We had a question about where the road went to get to Animas City, and how it got to Florida Mesa. We may need to to some more investigation but here is an excerpt from the Kibbe's Geographical and Geological Map of the San Juan Mining Region of 1881. There are some known inaccuracies in other parts of this map (see Nossaman's Many More Mountains, Volume 3, pages 350-351) but this is probably the best map we have of where the route was. Unfortunately, the map doesn't go further south of Florida. The road south from Animas City to Durango was built later so the stage coach didn't have to go up to Animas City.
