The Bedroom/Sitting Room
The Peterson family home originally had several additional rooms, one of which had been the Vulcan Foundry office now located on the Museum grounds. For interpretative purposes we have added a sitting area to the bedroom, which was not uncommon. While the Peterson children had a bedroom, many families did not have that luxury, and children often slept on the floor on bedding which could be put away by day. The room also features an added built-in closet – a lovely feature!
Visit the Joy Cabin to see how a large family could live in a single room with limited storage options.
